Low Frequency Side-Chain Compression
As a newbie, I would like to start a discussion on side-chaining low frequency instrument tracks, specifically the kick drum and bass guitar (or synth).
Can the pros comment on the
1 - Application of
2 - Theory behind
. having them be connected through some form of compression?
Thanks!

Side-Chain Bass Compression?
Hello All:
I've noticed that commercial productions have a much more squashed low-end dynamic range than my own recordings.

compression : to Side-Chain or Not?
I am considering getting the Neve Portico Compressor. It is the only high-end compressor I'll have in my home studio. I was originally considering getting a compressor with a High-Pass filter option or Side-Chain so that I can use the compressor to only compress transients and let the low end on drums and bass come through. But the Portico is a great price for a sound I have always liked.

TUBE TECH CL1B Sidechain
Hey guys, just picked up a new one and wanted to know if anyone has used the sidechain on a CL1B. I want to be able to use it for ducking etc but the manual only references the sidechain to be used to connect to other CL1Bs.
Thanks
Brad

Band-limited sidechain vs. . band-limited compression
Hi there! I’ve been experimenting with the Waves Renaissance Channel plugin , and particularly the “Push the pop master” preset. It’s a pretty simple process. First, a +2db low-shelf at 250Hz and a +4dB high-shelf at ~ 3.3KHz. The EQ stage is followed by a compressor operating over the full mix, but with the side-chain bandpass filtered at 120Hz.
what is side chaining?
I upgraded to pro tools 7 and noticed the sidechaining option in the compressor. I have heard about it but don't really know what it does.
