Where does the LINEOUT signal come from in the amp chain?

working on my "stage computer" setup as described in ProAudio (and duely ignored...). Have an old practice amp (several) with a LINE OUT.
Where exactly in the chain is that signal coming from? Is it out at LineLevel?
real question is this- can i use the amp as a simple clean PREAMP before I send it to my soundcard from the LineOut?

DAW delay in picking up signal

Hey everyone,

I just recorded some fantastic drum tracks using Cubase on a G5 that has incredible processing power and memory...
the problem I'm having right now is that in trying to overdub some guitar parts there is a delay before Cubase reads the signal and so the drums and guitar are not in sync...
I think it has to do with either :

Signal path - tubes and transformers - where?

I have a lovely Pendulum to cover my tube pre needs. I don't have a tube mic, however. The cheap ones I've auditioned have a bit of gauze over the picture, but I assume good ones can sound spectacular and clear. Here's question 1. All things being equal which I know they are not, will a nice tube pre obviate a tube mic.

signal routing ?

I dove in head first ! I'm a musician songwriter hooking up a new digital studio, and I need some advise on routing my signals through my equip. Behringer FX 2442 digital board, stereo 31 band EQ, dbx stereo comp. limiter, Lexicon MPX 500 EFX processor, 48 point balanced patchbay,Pro Tools 002 Rack. Any help would be greatly appreciated by this old analog guitar picker. Thanx ; RonnieC

please help: recording mono signal, good or bad?

hi guys!

due to output and input limitations on my mixer and soundcard, i can only have mono signals when i perform multi-track recording.

My question is: without being stereo, will the recorded vocals or instrument signals be ugly? is there any software plugin that can transform mono into stereo?

I'm quite inexperienced, please educate me more :)
