new to dual signal paths
Hey everyone. In a couple months i will be starting an internship at a top class studio. The console is an AMEK rembrandt, which has dual signal paths. Since i have not had the chance to work on a console with this feature i was curious as to what ways the dual paths are used. Thanks for the info.

How do I send out a signal, other then using main stereo mix
I have lots of outboard gear that I would like to utilize with my DAW.
My question: Is it possible to send an audio signal out of my DAW, into an outboard effect and then back into my DAW? (not using my DAWs main out stereo mix.)
I can think of a couple of ways this could be possible, but is it available now?
Cure my ignorance please...Signal Processors
I'm just starting to learn how to record seriously and I want to buy something to make the sound better...signal processors.
The main problem is that i dont know what most of them do!
I kind of understan compressors and reverb, but not completely.

signal only on recorded tracks
i've had a Tascam 788 portastudio for quite a few years now, and recently i've noticed a problem with recording my tracks.
usually i will record 1-2 tracks no problem.
save and shut the machine off
i'll come back to it to record new tracks

my at2020 gives me nothing but hiss and very low signal
Recently we have had rediculous amounts of rain and humidity in my town, i have a home studio/practice space in my basement which tends to get a little humid unfortunately. last week my friend and I sat down to do some acoustic recording. i put the at2020 in front his guitar. when i turned on my Behringer mixer all i got from the mic was hiss.
