How do I send out a signal, other then using main stereo mix

I have lots of outboard gear that I would like to utilize with my DAW.
My question: Is it possible to send an audio signal out of my DAW, into an outboard effect and then back into my DAW? (not using my DAWs main out stereo mix.)

I can think of a couple of ways this could be possible, but is it available now?

my at2020 gives me nothing but hiss and very low signal

Recently we have had rediculous amounts of rain and humidity in my town, i have a home studio/practice space in my basement which tends to get a little humid unfortunately. last week my friend and I sat down to do some acoustic recording. i put the at2020 in front his guitar. when i turned on my Behringer mixer all i got from the mic was hiss.

signal routing help

i have a Mackie cfx16 mixer and a delta 1010 breakout box version, and using using Cubase sx. i also have an 8 channel headphone amp that i have mostly for future use when i get more mics and such to record a whole band at a time?
