Sony TC-200 Stereo Tapecorder
I got this reel-to-reel today from a relative who died. The unit was made between 1964 and 1967, as best I can tell, only it won't power up. Sony quoted me a ship-in price of $154 just to look at it with no guarantee they could get it running again.

Mastering 8trk Tapes via Digi 002
Hi! So I finally decided to pull out some of my old tapes and digitally remaster them. I originally recorded these on a Tascam 688 (standard audio cassette tapes, 8 tracks unidirectional). I have an eight channel snake running from the 688 to the 002 rack.

Using Inserts as tape sends/returns
hi guys, just wondering if it is at all possible to use the insert points on your desk as the send for each channel to your DAW, then use the return as sort of like a tape input?
So essentially what you send to tools is simply the signal after the preamp, and what comes back from tools runs through all the EQ and stuff.
Thanks in advance, I hope that was clear enough.

Do you own a tape deck?
Any size shape or number of tracks.
Do you use it at all?
If so, what is it its function in your studio and why?
If no tape machine, do you use digital emulation of any sort to achieve that analog compression?

"Slowing Down Tape" Effect on a Revox B77
Hey guys, I've got a vocal clip and I need to slow the tail end of the clip down. Is this possible on a Revox b77, and what is the safest way to do it? Is it safe to turn the tape while the clip is recording from an external CD player? The plan is to get the track back into a DAW to edit. Let me know!

Mastering a cassette tape
I have a tape of me doing abt 10 songs at a folk festival. Several originals to. I was thinking of sending it to a mastering studio to transfer to digital and master it.
Anyone have a preference for that type work?
Was stinking abt MassiveMastering.

Record to tape? hard drive? and which sound card
I am sorry if this has already been a well used topic but I searched the forum and dont see the answer.
My question is;
-Whats the best sound card for a full blown studio (or what do they use)?
-can you still use a hard drive?
-Why do some use tape (other then for analog sound)

Running through tape...
I've heard of plenty of people dumping their final mixes from the computer onto some reel-to-reel tape, then back onto the computer again.
Question:

Great music on disc without adjusting master tape?
People, hi! This is my really first posting here and to be honest, I have only known about this forum since yesterday. What made me get here? Well, in my ambition to find more precise grounds to my stand in another discussion about importance of recordings I "googled" and found recording.org and I am really glad I did.
