Looking for advice in a vintage mixer re: outputs
Thought I'd throw this out there, maybe someone will know...
I'm looking at an old mixer that I want to buy, but the thing that's baffling me is the outputs:
1 left/right lo output
2 left/right hi outputs
vintage sounding vocal - tips'n'tricks?
hey gang, i'm going to be working with a band soon, and i think a very old fashioned vocal sound would work killer on them (it's dark yet poppy trip-hop). i've been racking my brains for how to achieve this...major proximity effect, then eq it to get trebly pops...

Vintage equipment (commodore 64, atari, other things)
We just got a commodore 64 from ebay. I also bought the "Incredible Musical Keyboard" for it and another synth card from a band call Treewave. I am trying to figure out a way, if any, to mic it. I want it to go through some kind of amp as opposed to the TV output that it came with. I could mic the TV but that is going to sound really shatty.
Also the same goes for the Atari.
Crate Palomino 32! Vintage Club Amp
Been messing around with my Crate Palomino 30w,Celection 10" all class A amp .
Its makes my Strat sound like Katrina&Rita all mixed up on one beach!
Ive never-ever heard my Strat sound so good.
It must weigh 50lbs.
I guess the 4 EL84s and the 3 12AX7a give it that Strat flavor Ive been looking for--for many yrs.

vintage-electronics.net ?
Has anyone else had problems dealing with Bob at Vintage-Electronics?
He sold me, and recomends, a certain meter bulb for my particular application. Well, the bulbs melted into the meters, and the face/trim, and he won't recognize we have a problem. I have been more than patient, but after 2 months, my patience is wearing thin.

Vintage preamps - Altec 1567a tube mixer - help?
I just purchased an Altec 1567a Tube mixer on ebay. I use an apple powerbook w/ mbox. I'm one of "those guys" who don't know sh*t about the schematics of vintage gear (yet), but am in love with their sound. I've been recording on everything TUBE and 2" machines at a few studios ... just never ran the stuff. I've used these as preamps before, and they definietly kick some ass...
