Hip Hop vocals on the cheap
So I'm brand new to recording and I don't have much recording stuff yet. Since I'm the kind of person who likes to know what they're going to do in advance I've spent several hours yesterday researching my options. That plus I'd like to make the switch to free software for reasons of price and ideology. And I'm getting a new (or used) computer with recording in mind.

Metal Vocals in The Studio
I've been recording a lot of metal "screamers" in the studio, and I find myself just guessing on EQ levels, and mic placement, and filters, etc.
Can anyone give me a quick rundown on some tips/tricks to recording this?
What frequencies do the "screams" exist at?
Mic suggestion for these vocals?

Volumes on Vocals
I was wondering if their is another way of getting all the volumes on the vocal on the same level...usually when i record my volumes go up high sometimes and lower at other times...i normalize or higher limit the vocals but it still doesn't balance out and level everything the same...i use compressor at times but it ends up compressing my vocals real bad where it doesn't sound natural anymore..

How can I get 3D vocals, as in more body to vocals?
Hi I have a home studio and record vocals ontop of instrumentals. I master my tracks on fruity loops. How can i achieve a more fuller, more surround sound with my vocals? Sometimes I find my tracks sound literally like a beat with a seperate audio track over the top. I would like to really bring my vocals out and give them more of a 3 dimensional sound. If that makes sense! :)
Having trouble with low ceilings and vocals.
I moved my entire studio into a bedroom that has really low wood ceilings (7-8 feet). My vocals and acoustic guitars seem to have a lot of bass. I'm using a RODE ntk. Do you think I should move it to an area where there is vaulted ceilings? The room its in now is probably the quite room in the house. Would using an eq fix the problem?

Recording Raspy- Lemmy-like vocals
Ok. I'm fairfly new to recording. Obviously I already know about angling, vocal presecnce, water, the good preamps I need, and eliminating pop and rumble. I'm using either an Electro-Voice Large Diaphragm condenser, or a Shure SM57 to record vocals.
What would you guys recommend to do as far as recording raspy, lemmy-like vocals?

Recording R&B vocals
when recording a singer for a R&B song, how should it be layered? (ie. dubs, back ups, adlibs, etc.. ) i typically just record hip hop vocals but now I'm wanting to move on to R&B songs, i just want to be able to do it right.

Microphone for soft vocals
So here's my situation:
I've been using a cheap $30 computer mic for recording and finally decided to use buy a real mic. I also own two mics which I used for live performances (Sennheiser e838 and e835), and I should mention that I've never actually tried recording with them.
