Hiss When Recording Vocals Even When Mic is Off
I'll be honest, I'm not particularly well-versed when it comes to this stuff so even though I'm going to try and be as specific as possible, I'm sure I'll probably leave out a ton of necessary info. Here's my problem...
Are most pop vocals today double-tracked?
That's the way it sounds to me.. can I get a confirmation?
(btw do you think they do a real double tracking or a delay tracking thing?)

Order of effects on vocals when mixing?
After youve recorded vocal tracks with proper microphone placement/technique and gain adjustments/levels, what should I apply first? I usually stick with EQ with high pass/low cut filter, compression, and a few delays n chorus here n there track by track.

EQ before or after recording vocals?
Is EQ something that should only be adjusted after recording vocals? I've read that compression can be applied before recording, but only if you know what you are doing since it can't be taken out. Is it the same deal with EQ?

Old School Hip Hop Vocals? (90's)
I'm about to get started in recording songs but I need to know what equipment to get to get that 90's type of vocal sound.
I have 300$ to buy either a a mixer or mic preamp or whatever I should get to at least get me started. I plan to also buy a Stellar CM5. Something like Too Short - Way to real has that special delay and warm sound that I like.

In search of soundcard for vocals, guitar, bass and even midi
Hi! I roamed around the forum a bit, and I think it would be ok to ask for a help. So if there's a cooked answer already, just point me direction. But anyway.
Which Microphone and 'XLR to USB' for Vocals and Podcasting?
Hello,
I'm doing some research on microphones for vocals and podcasting.
What would you recommend as a good starter kit for around ~100.
I will also consider things 'over budget' as well.
For now, I'm looking at things with a usb interface so I can use it immediately without extra gear.
The Audio-Technica AT2020 seems to do the job.
