I have the new Cubase SX and wish to replace my old version Cubase VST 5 with this new software. I am using it with the Tascam usb 428 interface on Win xp. What is the best way to remove the old Cubase and load the new?
Thanks

Greetings
I would agree with rkw.
I have Cubase 5.x, Cubase SX1, and Cubase SX2 all installed into seperate folders, and all available for launching. Backwards compatibility is very useful.
btw - I still istall plugs into the Cubase 5.x vstplugins folder, and simply point the SX1 and SX2 plugin paths to that folder.
works great

Whne importing Cuabse 5.x projects in to SX, you lose a lot of things. Dynamic events, notepad contents, track mute status, and a lot of other things.
So,.. BEFORE importing a 5.x project to SX, I ALWAYS load it up into Cubase 5.x first, and do any necessary fixes. like copying the notepad contents to a temp txt file. Rendering any important dynamic event data. creating a 1 bar empty pattern as a flag on every muted track.
you really should KEEP Cubase 5.x on your machine.

The best way would be to backup all your data, then do a complete reformat of your hard drive and a reinstall of your operating system. Then install SX.
While not strictly necessary, it's a good thing to do periodically. And this would be as good a time as any to do it.
