So I have Cubase SL, and I mostly do demos of music i've written, and mostly for yuks. All I have for drums/percussion is the ones that came with SL. They call it the COMPRESSOR, and as much as that is an impressive name, and saying it makes my willy feel bigger, I am left wonton(by the sound of the drums, not necessarily by the size of...)

First of all, the crash doesn't sound like the crash in any recorded music I've ever heard. It kinda goes TIIINNNNNNNNNGGGGGG, and takes 3 days to die out. Just wondering if anybody has any tips for making this thing believable/useable?

I'm notoriously cheap(yes, I'm so tight I can make you a diamond using only a lump of coal and my sphincter), but if I were to upgrade, any suggestions for a decent VST based drum program?

Also would said upgrade yield 'dry' versions of the drums? Seems to me there's not much point if you can't control the effects on the instrument?

Many thanks, and sorry for all body part references.

;) No problem.

I plan on picking up the DFH Superior soon, I've decided that I want to do a new music project with just me playing guitar/bass and me programing drums. (Had it up to HERE with flakey musicians)

With good tweaking of the velocities the drums should come off as pretty believeable sounding.
