I recently purchased a RODE NT1-A condenser mic. I've yet to receive it, but got it for a steal - the anniversary edition (mic, pouch, cable, shock mount, pop filter) for $165 brand new from the factory.

I record through an M-Audio Fast Track Ultra. Could anyone recommend some decent budget preamps ($100 range) for this mic? Or for that price range would it be better to stick with the Fast Track's preamps?

The ART Tube MP Project Series preamp seems to get great reviews for a decent price.

Thanks!

This, emphatically.

Those Art "Tube" (*cough cough*) MP's are dodgy and hairy in a bad way.

The only positive feedback I've heard on them is from guitarists who use them as part of their effects chain to get some extra dirty drive. Definitely not something I'd want to use on vocals.
