Hi guys, after having a very good discussions on Master this mix, I thought we could take it from the start.

Why not record a well known easy song together, I might be a dreamer but I think it would be a very instructive experience for all.

It doesn't need to sound like the original, it's just to make the exercise, have fun and learn !

  1. we decide which song and use a midi file as a guide (so we all record at the same speed and have the same structure)
  2. We track what we could or want to do. Yes we may have 20 guitar tracks but it'll be fun.
  3. Discuss on tracking and techniques used
  4. Choose the best tracks to mix (ego aside of course)
  5. Mix exchanges
  6. Mastering exchanges
  7. Create an article with all the process that can stay on RO as a guide
    Disclamer : it's not about who's the best guitar player or signer, It's about recording skills and creating something together !

    I don't know about you but, since I'm spending so much time on this forum, I think we could do a project all together, my friends !

    So step 1 : choose a song, let's gather your suggestions !

Hey Marco , It must be the effect pedal I played through . If it is , it will be on 2 of the 3 tracks .
Its something a friend made for me and when I A/B ed it , the sound was brighter and I quite liked it ,
but I never looked at the signal in spectrograph .( now I see where its brighter ...lol )
I just checked the tracks with my bluecat freeware spectrograph and the detail of those peaks is not visible.( obviously not a good plug in }
Otherwise it could be the faraday limiter or massey 2007 that I had on the stereo bus.

Thanks for the heads up , Im gonna buy the elosis air eq this week , after doing the trial demo a while back , which has a nice spectrograph
so I can keep an eye out on these things . I guess if you play those tracks through the wrong/right speakers there could be some
really annoying guitar tones jumping up front :eek:, ? Is that correct ? or will they be nice ....lol ?

When you repair them can you send them back bwahahaha :D :p

Ok I've done a premix and chosen some tracks, there are so many I had to put some aside, not that they weren't good but the song needed a direction. For those who were put aside, you can contact me privatly if you want to arrange a side mix version with your tracks and discuss about the choices.

Please listen to the Premix and comment if something is out of place. If not, I'm gonna open an other thread for the mixing phase. I think there is still room for backvocal tracks.. but we need to go foward ;)

oh Damn its a bit late but Ill try and download an acoustic and shaker, and bass that I thought might suit Fgods vocal style , in case anyone wants it :)
