how do I go in and back a track up in time to match the latency of the recording (in my case 4 ms)? I just cant remember how and its driving me crazy!
in addition, is there a way to make Sonar do this offset automatically?

Sonar handles all latency issues automatically. There is no need to slide tracks back and forth manually. But if you want to do that for some other reason, select the tracks / regions you want to move, make sure you're zoomed in enough to see what you're doing, and simply drag one of the selected clips.
