i'm thinking to buy this Rane DC 24 compressor (that i must use it in cascade after a dbx 386). I'm looking also for a dbx 166xl or a drawmer dl441.
Which is the best?

I tried a DC24, it has a really cool crossover feature. I like Rane products in general and they have extremely clever features that comparable products typically don't have.
however, I felt that the compression was quite dull sounding . but I didn't have another compressor to compare it to.
I've heard nothing but good things about the FMR RNC - if you can get past the tiny size and price. I've also heard the Aphex Compounder (spelling? anyway , its something like that) is very transparent.
If you want some color, you might consider Joe Meek. or other less colored optical compressiors.
