I am going to buy a 15 yrs old studio mixer which is a Tascam and the original price is $3700 and i'm buying it for $1000. please give me some advice.

I'd recommend something that's smaller, better sounding and more practical like a used Mackie 1604 over that thing. Just because it is big and not really portable doesn't mean it's good. It was TASCAM's first attempt at an automated console. Something that is rather superfluous these days with software automation. It was designed more to be used with an analog machine. You don't use no stinkin' analog machine do you?

I agree with Remy. The Tascam analog boards NEVER had a good rep
I agree with Remy. The Tascam analog boards NEVER had a good rep for decent-sounding pre's, and the EQ was anemic. And don't get me started with the headroom comparisons. While Tascam sold a lot of boards due to their big control layout and functionality, they let GM (Greg Mackie) whip them sonically with cleaner pre's and better output swing. I'd save the $$.
