Seagate

If you only have one hard drive in your G4 currently, then get a Seagate ST3120026A. 120GB, 8MB buffer, ATA/100, and for less than $100! You will connect this to the other end of the large, thin cable coming from your Macintosh HD. It will mount on top of the Macintosh HD in the hard drive bracket that can be removed from the tower by removing the screw covered by the large, thin cable (that cable is the ATA cable). Take the other electrical connection coming from the same cable powering the Macintosh HD, and plug that into your new hard drive.

The only thing that you must be careful of is to set the Seagate drive you buy to slave mode. There is a sticker on the drive that will indicate what jumper needs to be where to do this.

Good luck!
