Hey guys,
I am in search of a guitar pedal that can emulate a synth sound. I have seen the roland unit with the midi pickup you have to add. but am not really fond of the idea of ruining my Les Paul. I am looking to get sort of an electronic/techno sound from my guitar maybe with some filters, arpeggiators, and tremelos. Does any one know of anything that could possibly be of interest?

thank you,
Matt

If you are looking for real techno/electronic type sounds, you are gonna need some sort of MIDI rig so that you can play synths with the guitar.

The alternative to that is to use some sort of audio-MIDI converter and then let the MIDI control the synth, but that's not something you can really do in real time.

If you are worried about trashing your ax (axe?) go out and buy some pos guitar to mount the MIDI pick-up to.

This ain't exactly what you are looking for...but it's cool:

I have a GK-2-equipped Carvin Bolt kit guitar I built for just that application. I have tons of synths, ranging from Waldorfs (MicroWave & Q), Nords (Lead & Modular), a Motif, a Z, all sorts of Rolands, and even some pre-MIDI (Chroma and an EML 101). While the pitch-tracking has gotten mucho better over the years, there's still a latency issue with MIDI that drives me CRAZY!! This is why I go to the AdrenaLinn. And If I want "arppegiators", I let the built-in beat-box drive the filters set for self-oscillation. Totally plug-and-play, designed for guitar. And better build quality than the other pedal-type stuff out there. You owe it to yourself to give it a try...

Thanks alot guys i really appreciate the feedback. I have actually seen the adrenelinn and it looks like an awesome pedal, my only concern was whether the beat synched effects such as the arpeggiators would work without the cheesy drumbeats playing in the background. Does anyone know? I love the sounds coming out of it, but i just dont need their drummer as i have a real life drummer...... i havent had the opportunity to check it out in person, so if anyone knows lemme know please.

Thanks again
