Hi,

I am pretty new to recording. about a year ago I bought a Tascam DP-01FX and I am pretty happy with it so far. I was thinking of getting a USB interface system (E-MU 0404) but everything I read talks about latency problems with computer interface systems. I didn't wan't to get crazy with the price since I already have a hard disc recorder but I wanted to explore the realm of computer recording with all the software available. Anyway just curious what Latency problems there are and if it really matters to a novice. Any advice on systems or whether it would be better to go with fire wire or a hold new sound card.

Thanx,

TDiddy

It shouldn't be a problem. There's far too many usb interfaces for them to allow it to become a problem. People would just go to the next best interface. If you find you have latency problems, you can likely fix it by messing with the buffer settings. Just like any other interface. USB, PCI or otherwise.
