Hi all, just wondering...I saw a pair of mint ns10's go for 1100 dollars on ebay yesterday. I've been thinking lately that if I could get anything close to that, I'd let them go in a second 8-). Is that really what they're going for on a regular basis?

I definitely like them as secondary monitors, but are they really that necessary these days? What is becoming the standard these days as far as "bookshelf" monitors are concerned?

Could be a nice chunk of change towards a lynx 2 card.

They are still the 'reference' bookshelf, and seen in almost every pro studio for use during mixdown.

Mix / Mastering Engineers will tell you to mix on the cheapest pair of speakers you own :) Some use to check vocal levels (since they have a honkin' midrange) and if your mix sounds slammin' on them ==> should translate to a Sony boom box.

I've seen them on eBay consistently for over $500, less abroad. Much less than your $1,100 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=47093&item=3770040437&rd=1

Damn - wasn't more than about half a year ago when I saw NS-10's here in Denmark for 700$ ... now they're over a thousand! In my opinion, they're not worth that much. Also remember, although they're studio standard, they're driven with extremely high quality amplifiers (not your average home stereo amp). I'd say, unless you really need the NS-10's specifically, get something else if you have to pay more than 700 bucks for a pair.

I certainly can't afford a bryston or something of that caliber...but the thing is I already HAVE ns10's in perfect condition and I'm trying to decide if I should sell them or not...or continue to wait- the price seems to be skyrocketing.

If i could sell em for 800 I'd do it but a grand would be nice- got some itching for a lynx card and g5 :)
