Hi there

I use a package called Drumkit From Hell to program drums (i place the audio files by hand in Logic which is time consumming, tedious and boring) but i really need to know how to be able to play the drum sounds using a keyboard. i obviously know that it can be done... but how? What software would i need?

I'm a Mac user, so it would have to be OSX compatible

Many thanks

I don't know DFH, I'm a BFD man myself..

However, a quick google tells me that it is just a sample collection and does not include a dedicated player plug-in..

If so you need to load the samples into a sampler plug, so you can program / play them via MIDI.

My research tells me that DFH includes sampler programs in "Battery, HALion, DR-008, LM-4, Giga & EXS24 mappings." Do you have any of those? (EXS24 would be the most obvious choice with Logic) If so, load up the plug, route your MIDI input to it, and load up the relevant DFH program.. you should now be good to go. :)

logic comes with the esx24 as standard and you can load there all your samples (DFH) also for the time being that you don't have a keybord at hand logic has a midi keyboard mapping for you computer keyboard... just press the caps lock key (default) you also have velocity there, not over pressing the keys in a different strengh like on a real touchsensitive keyboard, but with a selectable parameter for every keystroke... that gets you at least going for a while, mind you that mike skinner aka the streets made his entire multimillion selling debut album on a laptop like this...
