Which one of you brilliant MIDI geeks/gurus knows the answer to this?
The setup - keyboard with internal sequencer, mac running Digital Performer, Midi Express XT, ADATs with BRC, and me with a shot of single malt standing there with too many manuals scratching my head.
The problem - Using the BRC as the master, I'm trying to trigger the keyboard to start it's sequence and have DP chase also. I can only get one at a time to chase the ADATs. When I have the output from the BRC set to MTC (Midi time code), DP locks up tighter than a republicans wallet at a planned parenthood convention. Switching the output to MIDI clock on the BRC gets the keyboard going but not DP.
This came about after a client came to the studio with her sequencer and wanted to lock it to previously recorded ADAT tracks. I wanted to record the audio out to the tracks and MIDI to DP for fine tuning and other sound options down the road. Could not get them both going. Tried again last night (no client) to figure it out, no go.
Any midi savy people out there know the scoop?

Its been awhile since I used Performer. What is the keyboard in question? Older keyboards don't typically do MTC as I believe its rather high band-width. I remember this being an issue developing a few of the instruments at Yamaha...especially the QY700 where we requested (and received) a dedicated MTC input.
So, if you can get DP to slave to the BRC via MTC and then transmit MIDI beat clocks to the keyboard that might work. As I recall, transmit MIDI beat clock is one of the options in the "Transmit Sync" window.
Also, in the "Receive Sync" window, is there not an option to receive MIDI beat clock? I forget if beat clock contains a timebase reference but that might work too.
Another option is to just record the MIDI data from the keyboard into DP, slave DP to the BRC via MTP and use DP to "play" the tracks from the keyboard. Then you can record the keyboard's tracks to the ADAT.
Of course, you may've already tried all this but let us know how it works out.
