Hey I'm Matthew,
I wanna start recording my own music but i want to make ALL of it my own.
Now i have an interesting idea here so bear with me lol.
I found a cheap lil piece of recording equipment and i'll add the link or pic of it once ive typed all this.
This is a Guitar USB chord.
Its about $20 and i was thinking, EVERYTHING seems to use a guitar chord, Microphones use the same jack and so do Electronic drums.
Is it possible that i could get somthing little like this and plugin my Guitar, record somthing, My mic, record somthing, then my drums and record somthing along with my Bass and everything and then just put it together on some sort of music program?

And is there a product ALOT like this one you believe i should use instead?
Im just a boy in highschool so i dont have a $100s of dollars to spend on this kind of stuff lol.
I understand the sound quality won't be the greatest but like i said, if theirs a better cheap product like this please let me know.
Right now i enjoy expierementing and its just somthing to start out with.
I am making no purchases till i have advice from someone with experience :)
I'm thinking if i can run a mic and drums threw a guitar amp with a guitar wire, then why couldnt i record them using the same recording instrument?

That item you referenced in your post might work for a guitar, but it's not going to work for a proper microphone and may struggle with an electronic drumkit. By the way, guitar chords are what you play on the instrument, and cords (usually called leads or cables) are what you use to connect instruments and gear together with.
You should be looking for an audio interface to plug into your computer. The type you need will have two or more channels, including at least one for connecting a microphone and another called a DI or instrument input for connecting a guitar. In addition, it should have line inputs that you can use for connecting high-level signals such as those from an electronic drumkit.
The difficulty is that you can't get an audio interface for $20, unless you are very lucky on Ebay. Just as an example, the minimal sort of thing you should be looking at is something like the $60 [[url=http://[/URL]="http://www.sweetwat…"]Lexicon Alpha[/]="http://www.sweetwat…"]Lexicon Alpha[/]. These do come up on Ebay, starting around the $20 figure. Don't forget you also will need headphones, a good microphone with cable and a boom microphone stand.
