Hey,
So I'm going to be buying a new interface and I need something like the firepod with at least 8 XLR ins and all the various nifties... Does anyone know if the firepod will work with pro tools? IS there anything out there like it that will? Im going to be using it with and intel mac for recording drums, amps, vocals, strings, various miced things... just needs to be decent and have at least 8 mic ins like the firepod has.
Thanks a bunch!

Sorry - won't work with ProTools.

Only Digi and M-Audio hardware will work with ProTools and the M-Audio stuff only works with PT "M-Powered" which must be purchased seperately.

Are you stuck on PT for any reason? There are a lot of great interfaces out there nowadays that don't play with PT and I just can't see any benefit to PT at all...

But...you're not me. Maybe you do see the benefits to PT for you.

You can run M-Powered Protools with this firewire board.

http://www.m-audio.com

Good news is..... M-Powered Protools Academic is $149, includes an iLok, and Digitranslater w/Time Code. A $1300 option with regular ProtoolsLE.

Bad news is... it's M-audio, and their products aren't made as well as PTLE.

Or, buy a used 002 rack and purchase PTLE 7.3 for $75 from Digidesign.

Ok, I've decided Im either going to stick with Logic and get the firepod or save up and try to get the M-Audio ProjectMix cause that works with it.

Im not actually that interested in buying into the pro tools BS I would just like to be one of those guys that can go to any studio and say 'yeah I can work that...'

Thanks guys
