Does anybody here have a good source for reasonably priced rackmount PC cases?

Any things to pay specific attention to so that the Mobo and the rest fits well?

Do these cases generally come with quiet fans (or any fans for that matter)?

Do they come with power supplies (my impression is they usually don't ... ) ?

Thanks in advance,

MisterBlue.

Well, if you do a google search you will find countless amounts of links for these!

Some come with PSU's and others may not. Regardless if they do come with them I always replace them with Enermax anyways!

They usually do come with fans but are not quiet in any form! I usually disconnect and remove the front fans as the enermax PSU's plus the CPU fan is a good combination of airflow.

There are some quieter fan alternatives which can be found at http://www.frozencpu.com

Take a look at http:// and check out their rackmount case selections!

Things to look for...ample space for hard drives and or bay spaces. Good solid metal as this will help keep it cool inside also preventing noise from escaping out!

Cheers

See, that's the problem: Countless links, given me weeks of browsing fun without getting me much closer to a real solution ...

What I was hoping for was a real-life example for a fair-priced case that was actually delivered as promised and did all that it was supposed to do ;) .

I agree that a case without PS is desirable as I would also replace it with an Enermax. Best choice out there at a fair price.
Sounds like the extra fans are not really needed as the Enermax PS's I would use have two fans to get the hot air out ... (?)

Anyway, thanks, please keep the advice coming.

http://www.plinkusa.net is the sight you need to check out they have a rackmount cases that start at $65 dollars. I am planning to buy one soon, this company is great because they sell direct to you and it saves the rip off middleman. I have been doing some research on rackmounts and most of the places that sell them are very expensive. You can also do a search on e-bay and there are other companys that are cheap as well.

Hey Misterblue, I found a good black 4U rack-mount case at one of the area suppliers. It came with a front mount 4 in. fan & a cross bar with dual micro fans installed inside. I was able to mount my (2)ide drives behind the 4 in. fan & the scsi drive was mounted in the 3rd drive bay below the 2 CD drive bays. No problem getting the Motherboard to fit. Of course I did do a little customizing. The case configuration has ample space for any extremely long cards, ie: lexicons' LDI-12T for example. Do a little research, I'm sure you'll come across something that'll work for you.
