Howdy,
I have Cubase VST 5, Tascam USB-428, Windows 98SE. What I have accomplished thus far is recording a midi track triggering a VST Instrument (NI PRO-52). This is all fine and plays back OK. I receive levels on the channel, midi & master faders. When I playback the midi part I have an audio track in record mode. The audio track records an empty track (no waveform). I can't seem to record what I am hearing from the PRO-52 on the audio track. Is this making any sense to anybody. I've been working on this for hours and hours. I've read the Cubase manual but can't seem to find out about this, what I assume is a vary basic operation. By the way, you've probably guessed, I'm quite new to Cubase.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks, once again, Opus!

I've been doing some experimentation with importing audio files (Wav's) into a track. Sometimes, not all the time, playing/rewinding/forwarding through the track via the US-428 my system would just freeze resulting in a hard re-boot. Is this a common problem? All my audio files (wav's, songs) are located on my dedicated audio drive (SCSI). Am I placing too much stress on the SCSI drive eventhough the tracks only contain small audio files?

I'm using the latest drivers for the US-428 and the hotfix for WIN98SE.

Anyway, this is not a major problem....I just need to save more often.

ciao 4 now!

To be honest....I'm seeing this as a Cubase issue...more and more people report that problem only with Cubase...Nuendo I Never(knocking on wood) get a freeze or crash...I'll see what I can do as far as percentage of Cubase users getting lockups and what system specs they have..maybe we can narrow this issue down to something silly once and for all
