I've been searching through new cables to use in my studio setup. I'm looking at Mogamis VS monster cables. There is also a guy that lives near me who makes his own cables (http://www.pacscables.com). I'm trying to save money and I'm looking for opinions from people who have used them before.

Thanks for any suggestions you have to give! :)

If you're looking at short cable runs, you might consider Canare or Belden. Both are available in standard or star quad configuration (star quad shouldn't be used over 50 feet or so due to higher capacitance). The Belden jacket has a textured feel to it where the Canare has a smoother feel to it.

I use both religiously here - the fact that you can get them in just about any color is nice! I keep 8 different colors in the studio so keeping track of who's plugged into what remains REALLY easy.

I like Mogami a lot and use their Neglex cables a lot for snakes. For single channels....I would probably go with the Canare simply because the jacket's a tad more robust.

For in-wall, I like Belden.

As for Monster...I have no beef what so ever with Monster. They make a quality cable and sell it at a fair price and offer one hell of a warranty! Though I think their 500 series is the best deal (the 1000 seems a tad overkill in the price/performance ratio!)

One of my favorite snakes is an 8 channel XLRM to XLRF 100' Monster 500 series snake. It's lasted me 5 years and hasn't shown even a small sign of fatigue.
