asking what monitors you would like is like asking "do i like blondes or brunettes?"

Couldn't agree more!

BTW - BRUNETTES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blondes may have "more fun," but Brunettes make up for it elsewhere!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Or, better yet, explain to the store who carries them (such as GC or SA) that you would like to try them both in your home/studio - therefore you will be buying both but returning one pair.

I have always found that, as long as I tell the sales people/managers about this and don't just surprise them with a return, they are very cool with it. I often ask the sales guy "When should I return this?" They are on commission after all and it does make a difference with sales quotas and what not, when you return it.

do you think it's because of generally bigger reflex ports??

 :-? :) :D

Nope...

Blonds have better high-ends because of their hard-dome tweeters. Be careful though, with age, these have a tendancy to go south!! With a lot of $$$ in maintenance, you can keep yours perky and hard!

As for the brunettes - they have much better woofers. Often, the bigger ports are simply a side effect of such lovely woofers.

In either case, the cabinet work has to be excellent or all the great tweeters and woofers are worthless.

what the hell is this forum turning into GUYS?! hahaha

no, seriously, blondes have better high-end response.
also, when sweeping their mid-frequencies, i have found that there seems to be a little frequency bump or boost somewhere, which the manufacturers like to call their 'sweet spot'
this is not commonly known amongst owners, but, if used right, the sweet spot can reveal normally hidden qualities and some really juicy low-end too.

Hello,

Always try to physically audition what you are considering. Whether it be mixers, monitors, sound cards, keyboards etc.

I can tell you that so and so monitors are the best in the world and then when you get them guess what? You think they suck! Now your gonna call me some idiot that doesnt know what he is talking about.

I got married so I could whenever I wanted to.

I got high-speed internet to help me with reality.

Now, unless you tell me you're a dude, I'm gonna picture you as a 5'4" brunette with a 23 inch waist, 34C bust and a round (slightly less than "ghetto") ass.

Do you feel dirty and used now?

Believe me, married or not, nothing is for free. :?

Oh I didnt mean free money wise I meant free of the headache! :)

Not possible -

women = headache.

Remember -
No matter how good she looks,
some other guy is sick and tired
of putting up with her crap.

Oh I agree with that 200% but not being married kind of detaches oneself from 'owning' a permanant "headache"! :)

That statement has got to be the most lucid, true, pure and intelligent thing I ever heard in my life, (and i'll be 32 tomorrow).

I have to bow down to that one! :D
