Transformer coupled Class A pre w/ compression and parametric EQ. Doesn't sound like your run of the mill Aleses POS to me. I'd like to hear it.
Who knows until you listen? A guy I really respect (actually works in real rooms and gets paid for it) mentioned to me that he thought the Presonus M-80 pre was pretty decent. (Not cheap though - 8 channels - 2300 bucks)
Tell them to send me that channel strip. I'll post a review of it!

With all due respect. I can understand your not wanting to review "prosumer" gear. But, considering this website is designed for those who are "pros, prosumers and beginners" I feel that to "not" offer reveiws on "prosumer gear" is a negative on your behalf and or ROs.
This website is here to "Help" all those seeking advice on many different levels. And on many levels alot of the guys here can't afford $3000-$10,000 pieces of gear. So on their behalf perhaps you should reconsider your position on your reveiwing criteria.
Sometimes a simple reveiw regarding the performance or noise floor on a peice of prosumer gear would be helpfull enough. Considering your position to be able to have manufacturers send you gear (if that is the case) to reveiw could be a very helpfull/benificial tool for those who can only afford such devices.
To limit your reveiws to only what "you" would use in "your" studio is a bit narrow minded.
Although I work in pro studios I also have a small recording rig at home. I am by no means a "gear freak" so I don't know every device or change in products etc. But as an engineer I do know what sounds good when I use it.
This post is not intended to start a flame war or the like. This is only my personal opinion.

So couldnt we have a reviewer here that specialices in the lower budget gear. Not just anyone of course, but a man/woman that has a professional experience.

There is so much really nice stuff out there waiting to be reviewed I don’t like to spend time on prosumer gear. I prefer to get things I like and will use. Many times I will end up purchasing a piece if I really like it. I did this with the Sebatron mic pres and I am trying to purchase the JLM TMP-8 Joe Malone sent out.
Sebatron is getting ready to release his own "channel strip" product, the "~THORAX~", a valve mic pre, equalizer and opto compressor all in one package! I do not know what the list price will be but I want one..
