Hello!

Soon after my other friends visit to Canada, and the resulting E-mu 1820. This one's going visiting Australia.

I have been trying to save up to get acoustics done. Oppertunities come knocking rarely. Should i spend on the Sebatron ? Best I can afford is a 1000USD. So would it be the VMP1000, or the more excitng Maximus ?

I now use Behringer pres, and the TFT's with the Emu. Micropones include SM57, Beta57 & 58. Oktava 012 (soundroom), RODE NT1a. Hey! maybe a RODE too from down under. Are RODE mics substantially cheaper in Australia ?

Cheers!
Sidhu

Hi Gaff!

Well.. the best pres i have ever worked on, or known to have heard, would prolly be the Pres on the EMu!

With me the issue is zero local availability of most high end pro audio gear. So auditioning is out of question.

My pressing need would be to have 8 pres in the studio, for drums. I planned on purchasing another two behringer pres (UB802), to make those a total of six, and use the two on the Emu for a total of eight. Spend the money on bulding acoustic pannels and stuff.

Currently, I have the money. And, more importantly, the oppertunity to invest in a high end preamp. I still work in a room with no acoustic treatment.

Alternatively, i was thinking bout purchasing an 8 channel pre with ADAT out. The Digimax maybe. Maybe even the ADA8000.

Then i could stick to using 6 behringers, and buy the Sebatron. Considering it a long investment..... and push acoustics down the line for laterz..

Dunno what to do.

A very confused Sidhu, with a soon to expand bank balance.

Hi Sidhu,
I heard a demo of Kurt Foster's song recorded by the sebatron mic pre. The sound was very crispy & clear. I think Maximus is a good choice. By this you got two type of pre's in one unit. But Before this you a need a good acoutically balanced room to hear these high ends pre's.
In my opinion first you go for acoutics & then add high end toys. If you want a high end multi mic pre with ADAT out, then think about RME FIREFACE. It has four high quality pre's & the AD DA is also very nice sounding.

Cheers!

The 2 channel Sebatron goes for about $1,200. If you do a little searching and watch Ebay you can get one for less. In other words, the 2 channel version is in or very close to your budget.

I would highly recommend getting the 2 channel as it makes the preamp more flexible ecause you can daisy chain channels.

Good luck.
