First session with new equipment - advice?
After 3 years of having my choices limited by my lack of mic preamps, I finally got a Great River mp2nv and an API 3124+. I have my first session with this new equipment tomorrow and I'm hoping for some guidance on how to make the best use of the new pres.

Stereo bars
Y'know Ive seen in stereo at a bar after a few too many in my younger days, but don't know where to buy a reasonable priced stereo bar for precise and repeatable mic placement . There seems to be no middle ground - either way expensive (DPA) or way cheap (atlas), any ideas?
Thanks
Tony

PT Im/Export
Again my question: I don't have the software option for PT Import on my MfX3 plus (15.5.03). But I'm interested in it. If anybody has experiences I would be happy to hear about.
Thanx
Christoph

Reverbs. Pre or Post fader?
Not sure what the difference really means to a mix, but do you guys recommend one over the other, pre or post fader, when dishing up reverbs on your tracks?

Can this do the job?
Somebody asked this question in another forum and I am very interested in the answers and suggestions you guys have because this is a rig I can afford since I already have most of the things.
I would like all ye experienced guys out their to tell me what is missing (or rather what else you recommend for a demo studio).

The transition to producer?
For me, it was a path full of 'revolution' 'going on strike' threats, aggravation, upset many fallings out - annoyed studio owners / artist managers & occasionally (regrettably) pissed off bands.. ll in all, a 'fight for the right'.

EV RE-20 vs. . RODE
I am working with a church that has an Electro-Voice RE-20 and wants to record their soloists..mostly female. I suggested they get a RODE NT1, NT2, etc with better frequency response. The Electro-Voice sounds thin and checking into the response I can see why.
Isn't the RE-20 used mostly for bass drum? Anyone familiar with the Electro-Voice mic?

Mic stands for the studio
Hello,
I want to buy a pair of new mic stands to hold two AKG 414's for drum OHs and VO's, I've been looking around but only found ultraexpensive Manley stands for $1,000 and low-quality $50-90 stands. Are there anything hi-quality-robust stands outhere that are not so expensive as the manley's?
Thank you for your help
