I have looked at the wave forms of many current pop and rock CDs and it seems to be commonplace for tracks to hit 'overs' again and again on loud sections. I am talking not about one or two samples at 0dBFS but 5, 10, up to 25 or more on *each* peak.

1] In your mixer, pan the first piece (1&2) as a normal stereo track of music, hard left and right.
2] Next, pan the second track (3&4) dead center for both channels. This will make the track mono.

Back in my younger days (I won't say how long ago that was... :eek: ), I used to work out a lot at what was then Presidents Health Club. One of the trainer guys was telling me that their term for bulky, well-defined triceps was "muscle-cuts".

I just got my Masterlink a few days ago and was wondering about CD-24s for Mastering.

First, what are the best brands?

How much are they and what kind of bulk do they come in? (the same as reg CDs I should think)

How do you transfer the CD-24 to a Redbook on the Masterlink?

I am about to be done with an album (Late May)and am looking for mastering in the San Francisco Bay Area. How much time and money does good mastering usually run? I just want to get an idea of what to expect? We master some things ourselves, but after pouring our hearts and souls into this music for damn near 11 months, we want some fresh, experienced ears on it.
