Lynx HILO for Mastering
I am being sold on a Lynx Hilo for my mastering conversion and monitoring solution. Do any of you ME's have an opinion on this? I noticed the Aurora has 8 channels (instead of the 2- Hilo) and sells for ~$500 less than the Hilo. Is the conversion the same? I was also looking into the CRane Song HEDD.
Please help, because my head is spinning over this.
Thanks

laying gear flat vs. tilted
Just curious why mastering engineers have their gear flat rather than tilted like recording engineers? I'm guessing its to do with reflections and having the gear right at their "hand, eye, ear" proximity? But how do you see?

Hi help needed on a noticeable difference between mp3 and wav!
Its been several years my working on music but I am able to do some better mixing now.
I mixed a session onto a wav file today.
It played fine.
I converted it into an mp3 and found some bass distortion and bass-kind noise.
Interestingly the EQ on mp3 wouldnt fix it. Since it was spread through the freq band!
Question About Mastering MP3s
I tell my clients that a rendered wave is ideal but a recent client sent me MP3 files to work on.

Do You Automatically Dither 24 bit to 16 for MP3 Only Requests?
If a client brings you a 24 bit recording and only wants a mastered digital version of it, do you go ahead and dither it down to 16 bit even if they only want it for online distribution/not for CD?

I find that you are not a pro if you dont use a multicompressor, but where should it be used best?
