What can you do with spectrum anaylsis?
I have it on sound forge 8 and I am assuming it is to find out what freq in a mix need to be increased or attenuated (for example 160 hz is way overpowering in a song). Am I on the right track with this line of thought? Thanks all.
Justin

Need advice on mastering track levels for a compilation
I'm putting together a nine-track vinyl compilation from various artists and genres. The tracks all tend to be pretty well recorded but the levels are somewhat sporadic. I'd like to get all the tracks into a somewhat consistent zone but I'm not sure if there's a definitive method for doing so.
Weiss or Z-Systems
All you high-end mastering guru's -
Which box do you prefer the Weiss or the Z-Systems? I was looking at using Algorithmix linear EQs (and still might) but if I were to go external, I'm looking for something as smooth as a baby's arse and user friendly.

Question About Levels with the L3 & Remastering
Hi Folks,
I have a project I am Doing for a friend that contains 20 songs. Some of the Songs were already Maximized in the Studio but to a lower level than what my friend prefers.
I am using an L3 to Level out and Boost all his Songs and I always wondered if it is safe to re-Maximize a master that has already been slightly maximized.
Writing tracks with no gaps.
Our new CD has the tracks sort of run into each other (transitions with chords similar between the two keys, etc). But Nero claims that my CD-burner doesn't support 0 second gaps between tracks.
Does anyone have a recommendation on a CD-burner that would allow it?
Thanks,
Tim

How Loud Should a Mix Be Before Sending to Master?
Quick question...
How many db's should a final mixdown usually be around before sending out to be mastered? Should it be mixed as hot as possible? Like just before clipping?
Or should there be a fair amount of room left so the mastering engineer has a lot of space to work with...
Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!
Should I remain in Digital?
I will be working on a live recording done on Cubase (@48k -24 bit) with a Mutu sound card (24 I/O). I did not record it.

Project mastering for dummies.
Hey, my band is having our next release mastered professionally, but we are going on a tour in two weeks, and the ME we're using isn't available til next month. So we're gonna DIY 500 CD's for our tour and then come back and professionally reproduce for the official release after its mastered. So I'm gonna master them as well as I can.
