Mastering suggestions
Forums
I was wondering if any of the pros had any suggestions for me. I have just completed a project and I need to get it mastered. It's only a 27 minute CD with 8 songs (not a punk record). Anyway, I was wondering if any of the pros could work up a nice price for me.

Getting each track the same level!
Forums
Hello all,
Im just finishing up mixing an album, and now I'm about to master the album myself ( because I'm low on funds ).
Are there any programs out there that once all the tracks are completed, it will make sure the volume levels for each track are all the same.. just incase some are a bit off.

question on pre-mastered mixes
Forums
Hey everybody...Well here is my situation followed by my question. I have been doing mixes lately for much more professional artists than the run of the mill local kid garage bands I used to get. I produce mainly rock projects. Usually I used to just do the poor man's mastering cause the kids couldnt afford to pop down any more cash for a true mastering engineer.

What is a good mix?
Forums
I guess you guys are the one that can answer that question the best as you lay the final touch to it.
Is it when it's nicely balanced(bass vs mids vs treble), everything clear as one can expect and nice imaging? or ?
could you try to describe what you are expecting?

Stereo spread
Forums
Hi guy's I was just wondering how often you use a stereo spreader to open up a mix or close up one which is too wide? Can you please name any hardware which is good for this or software,I tried the Wavess1 and it was quite pleasing (at only 10% wider,I used it sparingly),can you please recommend better ones for me to try. Also are speaders likely to screw things up even if used sparingly,I'm quit

Got a good mix but levels are low...
Forums
I am producing a demo for a local band and have a decent mix for them on CD. I put the disc in and compared it to other bands of the same genre and found the levels were pretty low in comparison. What techniques can I use post-mix to get the levels up? I am new to all of this if you can't tell.

Came home to find. .

That my home was broken into and all of my mastering gear was stolen out of the studio I built above my garage. Nobody saw the little sh*ts. They trashed my vintage bmw also. I live in the mtns outside of denver at 9500 feet and its pretty remote.
