Hey guys, i'm currently runnign a home studio set up with the central point being my intel 1.7ghz Windows XP, 1gb ram laptop and nuendo 3.2.

I like to tape gigs with a minidiscplayer (direct out from the mixer), mostly for documentation. However, I don't like the way the compressed minidiscsound is. I've looked at the Alesis Masterlink, and it has what I want, 24bit uncompressed recording.

i just recieved a Shure sm57 from ebay.. in the box it contained the mic itself with no lead. I have a lead from my previous PG48 and it fits perfectly however my computer does not recognise the microphone and when its plugged in theres nothing that says that the microphone if working

any ideas what the problem could be?

I 've read lots of great reviews via the media and as alway they are very posotive in regard to upgrading. But I was wondering what you people thought of the upgrade ... is it really worth while am I missing out on that much ?

Hi everybody. I am considering purchasing Tracktion. I've downloaded the demo and I have a few questions. I am currently using Cubase LE which came with my Firebox, but I am finding it a little complex. Tracktion touts itself as being simple but I find that the graphics look "toyish"(I know that's not important but I'm wondering if that reflects on the overall quality of the program).

Someone I know is selling a AKG D12e from the 60's/70's with the original box in great condition.

I don't know much about it since they aren't made anymore. Tell me everything and everything about them, what style they're for, reviews, critiques, ups/downs...everything and anything about this mic.

I need something comparable to Pitch in time. Im using Sonar 4. The plugin needs to have pitch control independent of tempo. if anyone knows of a good one let me know. Thanks.

I always feel spoiled listening to music through my AKG or Sennheiser studio headphones, when compared to my earbuds. I'm just wondering if there are any great ear buds out there, that can compete with these headphones?

I have recently aquired a Tascam 24 track set up. the gear is an m3700 desk, a msr 24s analog tape machine and a rack with looms and a bantam jackfield with a Tascam headphone amp rack. I haven't plugged it all in yet to see what its running order is yet, and I haven't any manuals for any of the gear. The desk would be useful. I also got 4 new Ampex 456 reels and about 15 used ones.
