Which adapter for the traveler?

I was wondering if there's a specific brand of power converters people use who travel around the world. Since the power standards are different, it's a pain to get those in some countries. I want one which converts 240 to 120 volts. I could plug my power conditioner which will have all the rack equipment (preamps and stuff) connected to it, to the power converter.

Trying to learn Digital Performer 4.5

Hey everyone...I bought my iMac, DP, and an external FW drive. Now I need to learn how the hell DP works. I think I'm just overwhelmed with trying to learn the quirks (or lack of) with OSX since I'm new to it, and I haven't used any recording software other than Cubase SX. Needless to say, I'm pretty lost right now!

SSL sound

I'm not a pro. I want to put a PT studio together for my personal use.
I know I'm going to use a G4 or G5, and I know I'll use
Apogee converters unless I use Digi units. I know the
Vipre(GrooveTubes) is supposed to be a hell of a good tube MP. I know
the MSS10(Martech) is supposed to be a bad ass solid state MP.

Rewire! Reason!

Hey! I've just gotten "Reason" so I'm pretty excited. I've made a simple beat so I could learn how to import it into Pro Tools. I think this is done by using Rewire, but as of right now I can't find any plugins in Pro Tools that say "rewire" can somebody tell me step by step what to do? I want all of my instruments on separate tracks in Pro Tools.
Thanks!
God Bless.

Plugins loading down my system

Hey,

I use a laptop for my DAW and the power is quite lacking, especially when it comes to using plugins.

Has anyone ever used a seperate computer to take some of the load of plugins? can this even be done.

I saw that Waves has a hardware solution that uses ethernet cable to connect instead of USB, Firewire, etc. It's a bit too pricy for me right now.

Next big purchase...

As always, I appreciate your opinions on these matters, you guys helped me out a ton with my initial purchases. I have some extra cash to blow on more gear, I just don't know which route to go, mic, rack pricessing, or hardware processing...

Here are my thoughts with the $1500 I have:

I have a TC Powercore, but would like to get a UAD-1 for more processing power.

anyone use live-boards for recording?

hi there
ive been recording with a Midas Venice on several occasions now, and am, frankly, pretty surprised by its beautiful preamp-sound. (not to mention the huge headroom)
anyone have any opinions on live-boards in general (the Midas is a 'live' board), or any suggestions on other live boards that sound good too?
