need advice on recording equipment/setup

Hi, I'm a college student and I've been writing and recording music for years. However, being on a budget, the extent of my recording has involved plugging a computer mic into the line-in of my PC and recording through Adobe Audition. The software is great, but my soundcard is lacking, which leaves me frustrated, because I would like better quality results.

What do you guys think of the Tascam FW-1082

Hey I'm building a home studio in my basement. Even though a lot of people say thats not a good place to work, my basement really fits the needs of a studio. I'm focusing on using software but needed an audio-interface. The 1082 looks pretty good because it also has mixers and other attributes that other interfaces don't have.

New here, Soundcard question

alright well, Im brand new to recording and this whole thing is very confuzing but interesting as well.

I have aquired a studio projects B1 mic as recomended to me, and a studio projects VTB1 tube mic Pre, Now the only th ing is it runs through the computers soundcard and sounds well, not to good. So The thing would be to buy a good recording soundcard right?
