My friend and client of 8 years has just put out his annual CD. He runs a local gig venue and it puts on bands 7 nights a week, 3-5 a night. The best he publishes on a CD each year and distributes them FOC to students etc.

I wonder. Certainly, laptop HDD's are very reliable and robust, but its that old OS and some really crappy hardware around the HDD that worries me.

Seeing as most questions in this forum seem to revolve around the "best of the worst" idea I thought that we could all put in some input, and maybe stickey it. Kind of like David's VST post.

What's available that can interface with a laptop via USB or FireWire that can handle 4 analog ins at once? I'm looking for something fairly inexpensive. The Traveler is nice, but it's way out of my price range. I've seen some decent interfaces, but they all seem to be 2 channels of simultaneous I/O. Anything good out there with 4?

i have a lot of audio i need to convert from 44k to 22k. anyone have any recommendations?

anyone familiar with sequencing the sounds from proteus-x onto fruity loop tracks. so far, i've managed to open the vst sound module for proteus-x in fruity loops. I'm using a midi controller to play each note. how do I record multiple proteus-x tracks similar to the way I would if I was playing and recording fruity loop tracks and sounds?
