Recording flat or not
Forums
Hi there,
I am about to embark on a recording using a hard disk recorder and a digital desk and an mpc 4000 along with a whole host of live instruments.
I just wonderd if I should record to disk without any eq, compression or fx and then add these back on top later.

iLok question.
Forums
ive got a question about the iLok USB key, this is just something new to me which I havent used already. When i start running Pro Tools I see some messages saying that a Plug-in is no longer available, trial period has expired. iLok key is required for authorization. What else do i need apart from the key to authorize the plug in? Is that the only thing I need?

I am tired of this EMU sh**
Forums
Hey, i have been through 2 emu1820m "mastering grade" coverters. i still have crackles and pops and frustration. Just when i think is all good, its all bad.
Any ideas, on something that, will not give me these hassles. Before this, i had a delta 1010LT, that, never gave me a crakle. or pop..
thanks..

Country/Gospel sesion Drum questions
Forums
OK so I am completely lost with this gig. They are a gospel group and the music is very much 80's country. I am a blues guy and these sounds are not what I am used to getting. The durms are big everything. Big toms, Big kick, Big snare and what I do normally is just 4-5 mics. I know to use my ears and work with what I have but I'd like some input to help point me in the right direction.

Post Recording Question...

Hey...i dont know if this is the right place to ask this question, but is there any software or a plugin that would reduce or eliminate the hiss that you get thru a mic or preamp or a sound card...WITHOUT affecting the quality of the vocals?
thanks !

Noobie firebox/XP-80/Cubase MIDI question
Forums
Hey All,
Quick Noobie question.
Just hooked up my old Roland XP-80 synth to my new Firebox interface. Using the included Cubase LE software. I can't seem to record midi correctly. It won't record like it sounds. For example, my synth baseline sounds like a piano. I assume it is a midi mapping problem?

Recording Distortion
Forums
My band recently recorded an album. I used my fender deluxe 2-12 with a tonebone hot british distortion pedal. I really like this sound and to me, it sounds just like a marshall. Now, I spent a lot of time finding that right tone, however when it is recorded, the sound is very different. On certain tracks it sounds very boxy and at other times it does not have that crunchy gain.
