Each go into a stereo track? or mono? Right now i use mono and pan L and R. Just curious.

I usually leave my mixer's mic eq flat when recording vocals, then I just adjust the eq after recorded in t-racks. so
1 - should I be adjusting the eq on my mic preamp and avoid adjusting the eq after vocals are recorded, or does it make any difference if I record through a flat eq then tweak after?

Hey, I was wondering if anyone can help me with something. (Besides tuning the drum [I already have, well] ) What is a good way to achieve that metalcore/hardcore sound on the bass drum? A good example of this is Jordan Mancino's drums on As I Lay Dying's last two albums. I love how they sound and work in the songs. What would I have to do to get a sound like that?

I'm on a digi002 and I'm looking to upgrade my monitors. I figured there was no point in buying really expensive monitors without getting a better DA converter than hte 002's - then I saw the tannoy precision monitors that you can just hook up right into the SPDIF of the 002.

I've searched the forum, but haven't found a related issue, please let me know if this has been discussed already!

A friend of mine just acquired an Ampex atr-700 reel-to-reel tape machine. He got it from the company he works for while they were cleaning out some old gear. We wanted to try doing transfers of some digital material to tape to see how it sounded. The material in question is 24bit 48k two track material that I have on my audio computer.

I will be using my powerbook to record. I will be using pro-tools to do this. My school will have the mixing boards, mics etc. What else do i need on my powerbook to complete this? Sorry if its not clear enough, I'm totally new to this stuff
