sends and returns on preamps
Forums
my preamp has an effect send (tip=in / ring=out)
i want to use a compressor in the loop (tip=in / ring=out)
so i know i need a TRS cable, but it seems like ins and outs won't be lined up. do they make special cables for this? i'm not sure if i should jimmy one up myself and risk comprimising the quality.

Forums
I guess a Celeron-M based laptop would be ok for recording/playing back multiple tracks? I will later dump the project on my newly upgraded desktop for processing and mixing, but I am looking for a "cheap", possibly used, laptop that will work as a multi-track on location as I don't want be draging too much around.
It should be able to..:

Trouble playing back with Livesynthpro and sound fonts
Forums
Hi,
I've been trying to open some old SONAR .cwp files where I used LivesynthPro and soundfonts. They used to work great. Now I'll hear the odd note but that's about it. Must be some simple setting?
I'm using SONAR 4.0 Producer Edition.

Good source of Info - Books
Forums
I'm looking for a few good books that would possibly be considered as a "standard" that have a lot of GOOD Detailed information in it about the various recording steps.
I just bought "The Recording Engineer's Handbook" last night and LOVE it so far. Only heard good things about this book.

WHICH G4 IS THE NOISY ONE?
Forums
I've heard that one of the G4 models is quite noisy. I'm thinking about buying a used one to get my foot in the door recording right now. I can get one for @ $1000-$1200 . That would work better with my budget right now instead of $3-3500K . Any thoughts or things to look for ? i'm planning on running through Motu828 mk3 &

Brief church choir project update, and appreciation
Forums
Well, we're at the point where we're about to take advance orders of the CD. I've done pretty much all the mixing and mastering I can do with my current setup and level of experience, and I have to say, the finished product is pretty awesome, at least to these unpracticed ears (and also to everyone else who's heard it so far).
