Hey fellow Ro'ers, this is a list of the equipmment that I have and I was wondering if there is anything that I should add to it to give it a more complete professional capabilities? (i.e, reverbs, compressor, drum machine etc.) I have started my own project studio in an effort to learn the art of producing, engineering, and mastering.

Basically I have the following equipment:

a computer with a M-Audio soundcard (with breakout box),
M-audio midiman,
electric piano,
electric guitars,
electric bass,
microphones (with a powered microphone amplifier)

i have yet to purchase a mixer.

Ok, there is my prob, i m loosing my snare when my distorted guitars comes in. when soloed or in the drum kit i m very pleased of the sound, very punchy etc, but with the distorted guitars un muted, its like its drowning into mud, have to raise the volume of the snare...
what kind of eq can i boost or cut in snare or distorted guitars to have those 2 well separated ?

wondering if i should upgrade my ghost's pres to burr browns. I have heard this a great mod. for this console or if i should invest in an external mic preamp's and where would i route the external pre into the ghost. possibly thru the channel insert?

Would it be acceptable to use two Beyer M160's in an ORTRF configuration to record a small guitar group or chamber group? This is the only matched set of mics I have and was wondering if they would be completely useless in this environment. I am saving for a set of Schoeps but it will be some time before that money gets saved up.

(supposed "JapaNeve" pre's from the Yamaha PM1000 consoles)
