Why are PC DAW recommendations always superseeded parts?

Why is it that when ever I read information on building a PC DAW the parts that are recommended are outdated parts? It seems that it is done with everything from Mother board to RAM?

Why are nForce 3 boards recommended over nForce 4?
Socket 754 over 939?
Single channel Ram over Double channel?
AGP graphics over PCI-E?

pre to complement mine?

Hi guys,

Years ago I accidentally scored an old Altec Lansing 1567A at a garage sale for $5. Had no idea what she even was til 3 months ago. She's an old, hand wired, all tube 5 into 1 mixer/pre. She seems to be a pretty nice old girl.

I have just completed having my local electronics guy turn her into a 4 into 4 unit, for $600 dollars light($500 US)

Audio Engine Error: ASIO went out of sync?

I'm a newbie to the forum... But this seemed like the best place to find an answer. Here's my problem...

I'm running Cubase LE (for PC with 1GB of RAM) with Reason on a Alesis Multimix 8 USB mixing board... When recording from Reason to Cubase the recording stutters a bit, STOPS, then Cubase returns an error:

"Audio Engine Error: ASIO went out of sync"

Sync problems after pause in Audition1.0

I'm using Audition 1.0 on an Athlon with an Echo Audio GINA 24 card. I've got an old Mackie CR-1604 with the first eight tracks going to an ADAT LX-20 (as a front end and meter bridge) then light pipe to the card. I'm recording the eight tracks into Audition with each tarck going to the left or right of four devices.
