Im thinking of buying M-Audio's Firewire Solo to use with my laptop as a mobile setup, however the laptop only has USB sockets. Im wondering if anybody has succsessfully used a FW to USB conversion jack in this type of situation

Hi all, ive got pt 002r and command 8, ive just purchased a midi contoller (a small edirol or something) anyway in le 6.4 i can get the meters working on the midi channel but cant get any sound coming out of the speakers. ive got the midi out, in the midi in on the C8.Now i wanted to use sampletank as a plugin .

I just purchased a MOTU 896HD and a Power Mac G5.

I used to work as a recording engineer in an analog studio years ago. This is my first foray into dig recording.

When I got the above gear, I also got a copy of iDrum by Glaresoft. While they say it's compatible with Digital Performer they don't think it'll plugin to Audio Desk. (anyone done this?)

My config is Hedd 192 SPDIF to 2408 SPDIF
I am trying to sync (slave) a 2408mk1 to Hedd(master) via wordclock.2408 in HEDD out
I used to sync via SPDIF but lately I have problems and I am trying workclock.
when I am recording a stereo track I hear a lot of white(maby) noise on one side!
If I don't use wordclock its ok but then there is no sync!

If you had a choice of either a Manley Langevin, or, Manley dual mono or a Sebatron preamp for mainly vocals,which one would you choose ?-and why

a. Mackie hr624
b. Genelec 8030
c. event studio precision 6

I ordered a raxxess 24-space rack in february, but it's still back-ordered. Does anyone know where I can get a classy-looking rack besides musiciansfriend, sweetwater, zzsounds? $300 range. Thank you
