Hey PC Guru's: Check out my new system
Forums
So I took the plung and just went for my first computer based system. Tell me if you think I'm going to have any pitfalls. Also, do you think I need to add a DSP card or not for my Plug-ins. Here's what I'm running...

TOA RX-216 Console
Forums
Hi,
We just got this 16 channel console for free from some church that was selling it for $20. looks like its from the 80s and made in japan. Not sure if it is good at all, we are going to mess around with it to do some recordings, but i was just curious if anyone had heard of it, or better yet, used one.

Newbie seeking advice on amplifying an indian hand drum
Forums
I am playing a 2-headed cylindrical indian hand drum called a pakhawaj. The skins are weighted with the "black spot" like a tabla. I am self taught, and play this instrument using fingering techniques that are more related to another south indian drum called a mridangam. The sound can be much more weighty than a tabla and has a really nice warm sound to it.

Can anyone help me out? My BR-864 when I try to import and export it just will not work. When I export it just has a folder labeled "roland" and none of the other folders. sometimes it will lead me to the "usb" folder but then there is nothing in it. I've used it on this same computer before and all of a sudden it doesnt work.

I've done several searches and found a few bits here and there but not a lot of commentary overall.
Lets hear it. The good, the bad and the ugly.
Choir recording
Forums
Ive have recorded a 35 voice choir with two spaced condensers with reasonable success (about 8 feet apart and about 10 feet back [due to space limitations I cant observe the 3to1 rule on the stage]) although I needed to add synthetic reverbs . Im recording them again this weekend and The actual church reverb is beautiful so my question to you is.

Comparable Interface to Aardvark Pro Q10 but smaller
Forums
I have a couple Aardvark Q10's that I am pretty happy with. For a different location I would like to set up another computer running Sonar with two inputs (just for overdubs.) What I would really like is a sound card with two XLR ins and mediocre built in pres in addition to two 1/4" inputs that I can plug a nicer Pre like my RNP into.

M-Audio Duo Preamp - how good ?
Forums
How good is the M-Audio Duo Preamp compared to other pres in it's price range ( $200-300).
I have one to try out, I'm using it on vocals with an Audio Tech 4033 mic and a Zoom mulitrack recorder.

Sennheiser MKH 20 matching
Forums
Hi all
I wonder if MKH20s bought separately would be ok to use as a main pair. I'm talking about new mics that haven't been abused.
Thanks
John
