Hi,
I like the Avalon U5 for bass and guitar DI. I really like the smaller size of the Summit Audio TD-100, but I haven't tried one yet. I've heard the TD-100 has similar good qualities to the U5, but is slightly warmer.

what do you think?

which mixer would be best sounding for live performance or recording elec bass/guitar rig ? (mostly using line or mic outs from from preamp and FX outputs going into the mixer channels) . Is the sound quality of the Allen Heath MixWizard3 or Mackie Onyx pretty much equal?

Whose 1/4" tape is the best product on the market for mixdown? (Cost is not an issue).

And. . do you prefer studio quality or master quality?

Need some ideas on recording bass guitars---Ive pluged in direct----and miced up an amp----comp,preamp,etc.
The sound Im getting is good---but I sure would like to hear some diff concepts and ides 8-)

I am getting an Apogee Rosetta 2-channel converter and I have a couple of dumb questions. How do I connect this to my 002R and does this disable the converters in the digi? Is this a firewire or USB type of connection? Thank you in advance and I am still hopefully learning!

I have just connected an Audio Buddy pre-amp to the line-in of my Creative Audigy 2 sound card in order to record from a dynamic mic and guitar. I hear a great sound from my speakers simultaneous with my recording (Is this always-on monitoring normal?), but the recording level into Sonar 4 is extemely low, and it sounds like there is some kind of line noise (similar to an impedance mismatch).

Just wanna share my satisfying moment of clarity. I have a nice studio with great gear and basically I've been happy and never had trouble getting the results I want. I'm a producer/songwriter/engineer and the studio is for my personal use only. Still I got these moments when I thought I need this and that piece of gear to improve the quality, and, you know how it goes.
