Hi
after years of creating music with an average pc, cheap soundcard and cracked software Ive decided to invest in a proper set up (including purchasing the programs and plugins Ive 'trialed' extensivly).
Im collecting information on the best equipment for my needs and have spent a month gaining a lot of info off this site before making my first post.

MOTU 2408 MKII playback problems - HELP?
Forums
Hi everyone, I have just replaced my PC with a new 3GHz P4 loaded up. I removed my 324 card and re installed it in the new PC. The system worked great in my old PC. In the new one however, when I record anything via the analog ins, the playback quality is very distorted. Almost like you're running your master through a marshall gained full up!

Forums
Hi, i'm looking for some help on picking out a mixer, the mixers i've narrowed it down to are, Mackie 1604, soundcraft fx16, A&H mixwizard 3, carvin 1644, anything else? are they all about the same? it seams that it is mostly brand preference? i'll be buying online and can't listen to them side by side, it will be used for the house PA, thanks, rog

How to connect preamp to mixer?
Forums
I have a Mackie 8-24 mixer and am wondering how to connect an external preamp (when I get some). I looked at the wiring diagram for the board and it appears that I should use the "channel insert" to feed the signal to the board. This way I would be entering the board's input chain AFTER the Mackie's internal preamp.

G5
Forums
Actually I think I can get a cheaper G5 off of macs website than I can a G4 with 512 MB on dvwarehouse. Anyways I'm obviously gonna have to pay at lot more. I'm basically thinking about 2 of the powermac G5s, they're both pretty much a standard G5 except one has an 80GB harddrive and 1 MG of ram and cost $1,724.00 and the other has a 160 GB harddrive and 512 MB of ram and cost $1674.00.
