Two Sound Cards With Cool Edit Pro?

I'm having some issues here and I can not figure out what the problem is. I have an audiophile 192 that I use for recording vocals and guitar but I use my soundblaster live for playback through my headphones. The problem is that I can't hear what I'm recording through the headphones until I actually record it and then play it back.

kick drum phase

Hey I don't know if this was brought up in the "overhead phase" post but I have heard of people switching the kickdrum's phase since its being miced (in most cases) from inside the sound hole or on the resonant head. Its just something that I don't hear it enough to think that it is worth it or right. I have tried it my self and i didn't really hear a difference.

thanks

Recording interface/ Software ? (newb)

Hey guys...

I am using the M-Audio FW 410 recording interface in conjunction with my laptop. I am in the market for software for recording my MPC loops, turntable scratches, vocals, etc...

What is good entry level recording software that is easy to use and is compatible with my interface?

Any suggestions are welcome 8-)

New to digital recording, stupid ?s

Hi all, new guy here. I know nothing at all about digital recording, but would like to get a recorder soon. So I've got a few questions:

1) Are all recorders compatible with all others? My buddy has a fostex mr-8 if he burned a CD could I pop that in another brand recorder and record on that? I'm talking about the under $1,200 Korg /fostex/boss type.
