Can anyone with a really experienced ear (of if someone happens to know the session details) tell me or give me a clue as to what they used to get that nice, raunchy, full-bottomed bass guitar sound on "Fell on Black Days"?

can anyone recommend a good book on recording? is there some sort of recording bible? i know that some of you will say to keep reading through the forums but i also want something that will get me through basic to advanced(or intermediate is more like it) in a more linear fashion. Thanks

I've been recording on my Zoom MRS 1266 10-Track for a few months now.

Can anybody give me their opinion of the MOTU 242i digital recording system. I am currently looking at purchasing one via ebay and would like to get the low down from anybody who has actually used one.

I have no friggin idea how to record over a beat in either program.. I put it in, it loads, but then what. when I press record, nothing sounds, I need to hear the beat, and record the beat a long with my voice.. plz, can someone plz explain to me like a dummy how to do it, plz, thanx.. and the manuals ain't sh*t, don't bring em up..

I need help buying monitors for tracking/mixing, I want ones where I don't need an external amplifier and i don't have very much money. I want them to be decently accurate, and they don't have to be EXTREMELY loud, as I don't like to listen super loud when i'm recording and mixing. Thanks!

Okay, so I have about 300-500 dollars maybe a little more, and i'm fine with new or used equipment. I need at least 4 channels of simultaneous recording at 24/96khz, more if possible. Right now I have a Sound Blaster Audigy that sucks, and i borrow a Mackie mixer when i need to record more than 2 mics at a time(drums), and I have an m-audio dmp3 preamp.

I use Cubase SE for my home recording on a G4 iBook, and do not have any good reference system beyond a set of headphones. My question is whether I can use a spectral analyzer to produce a spectral profiile visually representing "good" sound without actually having a good reference system.

This tip is more for the recording newcomers but could also help others in here.

I ve been been browsing for almost a whole week non stop and all the forums you have here related to Recording and studio setup, etc. You guys are so good in explaining everything down to the last bolt and screw. You never find a question too dumb, or too basic, (maybe too vague or general).
