I need to buy a couple of 16 space racks for the studio. Any companies to look at or avoid? I don't want to spend more than $250 per cab. But I also don't want to get something that's flimsey.

Hi everybody, I'm fairly new here. I have a small (amateur) studio with some just OK, maybe not-so-good equipment.

I'm looking to improve my recordings, especially tracking that requires Micing (saxophone, flute, acoustic guitar, vocals). I see there are books out there. Anyone recommend books that would be good?

Does anyone have any info the Orange County company? From what I gather, this was a company making high-endrecording gear in the 70's. I could only find two products that they made, a stereo compressor/EQ and a Vocal Stresser of some sort.

In my DAW today i'm using a Maxtor 40GB 7200 rpm for my system partition and another partition for my audio drive...

i know it's not a good option.. but i couldn't afford any other HD for a while..

Here's a problem: the tone of my individual tracks gets better as I upgrade my pres, but my over-all mixes aren't sitting together as well. It really hit home when I recorded a live jazz performance through an Allen & Heath with the rnp as the only outboard pre. The outcome was really very good. The mix fell together easily. The only funkiness were the drum overheads. the rnp.

There are good things with both Balanced and Single Ended but there's also bad things. at the moment i find Single Ended gives the best results.

What do you use in your mastering studio?
