I want to upgrade my DAW, and I have some questions that I hope, after searching this forum, won't be too redundant.

Some stats:

I'm looking for nearfields in the less-than-$600 range for my small 16' x 8' x 9' room. So far the candidates are Yamaha MSP5, Behringer Truth 2031, Yorkville YSM1P, and Yorkville YSM1 passive with my Hafler P3000 amp. What's the best for my budget? Can I expect a decent performance in this price range or should I save up for Genelecs or some other high-endstuff?

I am looking into getting a desk for a Soundcraft Ghost 32ch board. I have seen Argosy makes a nice looking product, and they seem to have THE name in that area of audio... anyone recommend anything better, or equal that might be worth examining?

I have seen the ADAM audio range on their webpage and think the P22's look pretty nice. What do you think of them?

What if any is the difference between recording stereo using two mics into a dual pre or using two mics into into two mono pres.I ask because I'd like to buy a single high quality mic preamp but ultimately have two to record in stereo,right at the moment I can't afford two.

I am working on a project with some folks where we're using midi horns and strings along with live bass, drums, keys and three vocalists.

I have recorded my live drums along with the midi tracks and the more I listen to it, the more "cheezy" the horn and string parts sound.
I'm using SONAR XL and a Korg X5RD module.

Hi, I'm assembling the pieces for a small home studio, starting with a G4 400MHZ Mac running OS X. I'm thinking of using USB for the hardware interface and firewire for an external hard drive. I have no plans for more than two inputs at a time and if I get to the point where that's a limitation I'll upgrade hardware.

i thought you could monitor the motherboard temp using sandra. i have sandra pro 2002 and can't see where this information shows up. any ideas.
